White people, am I right?

Government agencies find any and all loopholes they can to resist equality legislation, from septic/plumbing systems refusing to serve black neighborhoods to requiring unachievable/endlessly expensive documentation and loopholes to building highways as borders between White and Black neighborhoods, these damn White people use all their power and energy to enforce and maintain segregation...

Unions were segregated! At least until the 70s! Therefore, alongside the fact that Black people struggled to get any job and, if they could, got the worst and least-paying ones, they couldn't save up to build up generational wealth!

Alongside paying higher rent and getting less services (due to lacking Union membership, lacking government investment), the effects of housing segregation impact black people TODAY.

Dumb ass white people in the 1900s vandalize homes purchased by Black people or with homes recently moved into by black families.

Methods ranged from throwing rocks through their windows to literally fucking blowing up houses and killing families inside.

Cops are happy not to arrest anybody nor do prosecutions ever take place except for those that sell homes to blacks or the black families themselves!

Public Works Association projects “respected” racial segregation tendencies for the sake of “racial happiness” or “prosperity,” in the mid 20th century.

Presidents and the majority of any aspect of the federal or state US governments were just. Racist. Full stop. Damn!

Zoning, redlining, and other practices enforce segregation.

Hazard waste facilities in black neighborhoods specifically.

Damn!!!

Explicit government regulations made it impossible for black workers to get loans to actually get housing, World War II government restricted buildings civilian homes which is interesting, union of automotive workers forced Henry Ford to keep black workers even after the war ended, Black folks would drive hours to work there for the solid income. White flight -> blockbusting inflated house sales to desperate blacks.

Rothstein plans on proving that segregation is de jure not de facto, began explaining the history of segregation in Virginia,

explaining the World War 2 boat manufacturing industry in the state and how worker compositions built up more and more black as Black people sought labor from the south with their lacking education, at the time government explicit segregation took place throughout the state.
