The number of times someone says the phrase "we assumed" is astounding LMAO. Yes, you have to make some assumptions in science, but the fact that it seems as though they never did any fieldwork or collected data is?????

I know I'm not that far into the book yet, but as someone who works in science, the lack of curiosity and confirmation bias that's being displayed is interesting and commonplace, and I think Crichton is making an interesting argument (based on his intro and what I've read) about what profit does to science and scientists. There's a convo about elitism in there somewhere too tbh.
