I actually loved the writing so I'm considering reading other books in the series. But a lot of the choices here, especially near the last stretch, were... questionable, let's say.

I mean, I swear I haven't seen any negative takes elsewhere, so chances are you'll probably love it! I didn't hate it either, I was just very frustrated by the end. Disliked one of the MCs too, who was common sense-challenged.

@Candy there is always that something to break of a good story! Are authors doing it on purpose or something!? Like do they form a secret cult and discus how to ruin a good plot of readers?

I think there's some definitive comparisons to be drawn. Both of them are cowboy books... both of them include a protagonist running away and later coming home... both have a dick-ish love interest (in this case it was the one who ran away though). I think you might be onto something!!! Will require further research that I'm not sure either of us will survive, however.

For me it's a sign that I'm dreading finishing the book, either because it's that good or because it's that bad. no middle ground.

Thanks, Ayanna 😌 and there were some good aspects, so it won't be a full-on rant. I actually found plenty of aspects to be lovely. But the romance itself and the side plots were not it for me.

OMG-- I really hope you end loving the book, but also... not that much? Sorry if this is cruel of me but it would be a relief to share my unpopular take with someone else 😩 I swear so many of my pet peeves suddenly appeared by the end, I was shocked by how things went so wrong so quickly.

I agree with you, Candy! I think we felt the same way about this one. 🙂

Here's hoping your next book is at least a 4 star read! *crosses fingers*
