So Moraine is pretty much as I remember. She seems to let the 4 talk more than they should, but I suppose they speak to move the narative forward. I want Lan to be a bit more stoic. He seems a bit too cranky, and not as understanding as Id like.

I can see where someone might not like the tone at this point. It's all from Egwene's perspective as a 9yo. Specifically the roles of men and women. Her commentary on marriage seems strange. She's 9 if he just put her age at 12/13, it wouldn't have felt so out of place. At the same time, it says girls at 18 and wait a few years to get married, so 21, 22? That actually sounds late for this small rural town vibe.

Rich How many re-reads will this be? 😉

Shane It's my 3rd re-read. Before this I read it once in High School, and once when the lord of the rings movies came out.

I read up to book 13, Towers of Midnight, but got turned off by Sanderson's writing style. At the time it felt too jarring and to me felt like the spirit of the characters changed.

The amazon series got me interested again, and I'm especially to see what changes they made, I don't remember it too clearly, since it's probably about 20 years since I last read this.

At the moment, I'm thinking to read the first two, then review the summaires, and possibly take on the last book.
