Lara Lee Yes! I am still interested in guest bloggers. Sorry it took me so long to answer. You can check out my blog at laraswanderings.wordpress.com to see what kind of posts I put up. I am looking for articles about your spiritual journey when writing your book. It needs to be about 1000 words. Self-promotional links are encouraged as well as a few good pictures: one of yourself and one of your book. You can email them all to laraforgiven@yahoo.com
Lara Lee Congratulations on the new translation! I think this is a great suggestion, but I won't be able to do this over the holidays. My youngest son is having surgery for cochlear implants in December, and I have lots of doctors appointments to attend. I do think this maybe a good idea for a summer read, though! I'll talk to the other moderator s about it. Thanks for the great idea!
Lara Lee Hi Edna. I took a look at your book, and it does have an interesting premise. Unfortunately, it really isn't the sort of book I typically read or review. I tend towards fantasy and young adult. I scatter classics in for the sake of improving my writing. I wish you well if finding reviewers who are a better fit than me.
Lara Lee Message me a link to your book so I can read the blurb. I do write reviews, but I don't like cliffhanger endings or open endings that expects me to read the whole series to get a good story. I'll see if it fit what I like to review. If I do start reading it and dislike it for some reason, I send an email saying I can't review it. I don't like posting negative reviews if I can help it.
Lara Lee The trilogy I am working on was born together, but my idea for the first book, The Shadow of the Gryphon, came from my childhood in Florida. They say to write what you know. Well, that applies to fantasy fiction as well. There is no struggle or joy as powerful as those you have experienced yourself. Luckily, my imagination is able to translate these emotions into epic proportions with faeries and dragons mixed in.
Lara Lee I am a natural daydreamer. I am constantly seeing the irony in life events and that gives me plenty of material to pull from. As a teenager, I took life too seriously and dealt with depression. It is impossible to write well with that kind of pressure. Learning to laugh at myself was the hardest and most beneficial change in my perspective to help my writing. Now, everything inspires me, both the good and the bad.
Lara Lee Don't let your difficulties and limitations discourage you. I never thought I could be a writer because of dyslexia and my horrible spelling problems. At this point in my life, I can spend one month writing a 100,000 novel, but I spend two or three months translating it into readable English. My first novel took ten years to write just because of all my insecurities. Just write and work hard at it. Anything worth doing takes perseverance.
Lara Lee I just finished The Shadow of the Gryphon which I may try to publish through a traditional publisher. We'll see. I am more than half-way done with its sequel The Gryphon's Handmaiden and a quarter of the way done with The Gryphon of Stone which concludes the trilogy. I am also working on a short story called Maldamien's Babble. As you can tell, I rarely do one thing at a time!
Lara Lee I love writing whether or not I ever had any of it published. I live in my imagination so much that it's nice to invite people in for a cup of coffee every once in a while. I like how being a writer somehow legitimizes daydreaming as a real profession.
Lara Lee I read! I also try to keep a journal and observe the quirky life situations around me. In general, reading inspires me the most.
