Facts and Belief (The Sonnet) | Handcrafted Humanity
No belief is worth losing your humanity over,
No intellect is worth losing your kindness over.
Facts, faith, reason, religion all come later,
First and foremost we must humanize our behavior.
If a belief or intellect makes you a better person,
More power to your belief or intellect I say.
But if they become a hindrance to your humanity,
Throw it immediately like poison far, far away.
Beliefs have cast shadows of wars throughout history,
Facts have provided weapons for those wars.
Then again beliefs have taught us to love our neighbor,
Facts have helped us fight calamity and disorders.
Let all beliefs and facts be guided by a warm heart.
Warmth alone will make our world fit for human birth.

Honor He Wrote Sonnet 62
Belief sustains a person,
But behavior sustains a society.
Belief has nothing to do with truth,
It is just a matter of mental necessity.
Often our belief defies all reason,
That's absolutely okay to a great extent.
What's not okay is to impose it on others,
To sentence others to our imprisonment.
I believe, that my teacher watches over me,
Even though he walks the earth no more.
This belief has nothing to do with your life,
But it helps me walk past my crippling woe.
All beliefs are good beliefs with or without reason,
If they help you in life to become a better person.
But behavior sustains a society.
Belief has nothing to do with truth,
It is just a matter of mental necessity.
Often our belief defies all reason,
That's absolutely okay to a great extent.

We All Have Imaginary Friends | Vande Vasudhaivam
Dear believer, I don’t believe in an Almighty God.
Do you hate me for it? If yes, you have
learnt nothing from your faith.
Dear atheist, I don’t believe in supremacy of facts.
Do you hate me for it? If yes, you have
no mind but machine, my friend.
Everybody has imaginary friends,
My imaginary friend is my late teacher,
And I find it therapeutic to talk to him,
Whenever I hit rock bottom during disaster.
Quite like air, water and food,
It’s something we humans need to survive.
Last thing this world needs is more war
to prove whose imaginary friend
bears the greatest of might.
Militant atheists are no more humanist,
than religious fundamentalists are religious.
Secularism is not the absence of religion,
secularism is the absence of religious intolerance.
Do you hate me for it? If yes, you have
learnt nothing from your faith.

Sonnet 1144 | Visvavictor
Istanbul to Alpha Centauri,
Cosmos courses in my corpuscles.
Religion, nation, stuff it all,
Benevolence makes the world livable.
Din, dünya, milliyet falan,
hiç umurumda değil.
Sen mutlu ol – bana yeter.
Scripture, constitution, god, government,
Nothing matters to me, except behavior.
The greatest iftar is
to break the fast of apathy,
with the feast of affection.
Sin humano no hay dios,
Where there is no kindness
there is no divine intervention.
Sapiens intervention is divine intervention,
There is nothing higher or more mighty.
When we are obliterated in lifting the fallen,
That’s the living manifestation of the almighty.

Intolerance is the Enemy, not Illogicality | Abhijit Naskar | Visvavictor
Intolerance is the enemy, not illogicality. Argumentation without empathy is just hate speech. If someone is doing no harm, then who the hell are you to take away their fantasy! On occasion, healthy fantasy does indeed turn into harmful superstition – at that point it is the duty of every conscientious human to stand up to such superstition. Until then, keep your judgment to yourself.
You can never be a first class human being, until you have learnt to have some regard for human frailty.
The problem is not that we believe in a lot of weird stuff, the problem is that often we end up confusing our belief with reality. Keep your belief if you need, no matter how illogical it is, but always be observant of your belief. Be the believer as well as the observer of the believer. In your mind be a child as well as the guardian of the child. Allow yourself some fantasy if it’s not doing any harm, but never let it run amok.
Let me put it to you another way – a little bit of fantasy actually enhances your mental faculties. Which means, just like there is such a thing as too much fantasy, there is also such a thing as too much logic. Apply logic where logic is needed, permit fantasy where fantasy does good. Learn to be flexible, learn to be human.

If I Wrote God (A Naturalist’s Letter) | Abhijit Naskar | Neurosonnets: The Pocket Book of Consciousness
If I wrote God, they’d would be
kind and gentle, not vengeful and jealous.
Freedom of choice would be first commandment,
preventing wrongs they’d stand righteous.
They’d refuse to entertain suffering,
their grand design would epitomize equality.
Sure, their world would still have problems,
but it would be spared from ungodly atrocity.
Law of Nature is its lack of meaning,
as well as its lack of morality.
We needed an image to bear the blame,
and be the imaginary steward of our destiny.
True godliness lies in behavior, not belief.
Hand of God unfolds when human takes the steed.
kind and gentle, not vengeful and jealous.

The God Undelusion, Sonnet | Abhijit Naskar | Little Planet on The Prairie

God is the greatest undelusion of all,
but only when you find it in the living,
while it’s the desecrator of lives, when
you revere or refute from either extreme.
God is like Schrodinger’s cat,
one moment it’s there, the next it’s not –
all depends on the state of mind –
there’s no divine outside human eyes.
I see my God in people,
in their happiness God smiles.
Obliterate people from the world,
and you exterminate God like termite.
World is my church, the persecuted are my deity.
God faith is interfaith, human welfare is my priority.

Beyond Evidence and Ignorance (Monk Scientist Sonnet) | Abhijit Naskar | Little Planet on The Prairie

I’m sorry, I cannot live a single cultural,
single lingual, single scriptural existence.
I want all the cultures and languages,
I want all the scriptures and sciences.
I am the epitome of reason founded on love,
beyond the grasp of either establishment.
I don’t need to be popular in either cult,
I live as lamp to the world not another lamb.
I am a scientist aware of facts,
I also accept faith as a right.
My struggle is again’t intolerance,
not to pamper either side’s narrow sight.
I once set out as a monk, that journey has
kept the scientist grounded in tolerance.
My truth is love, not belief or disbelief,
not coldened by evidence or blinded by ignorance.

Life is Nonbiblical, Truth is Nonbinary (Sonnet 2349-2350) – Abhijit Naskar, Kral Fakir: When Calls The Kainat

Atheism is a white european invention,
outside the shortsighted gutter
of eurocentrism there are people who don’t
need to believe in a creator to be holy,
you can be sacred without being superstitious,
the human world is teeming with such cultures
where life is holy, duty is holy, laughter is holy,
but of course your whitewashed, eurocentric
little intellect cannot fathom nonduality –
that’s why you mustn’t confuse intellect with wisdom,
some of the brilliant minds are first class idiots,
their binary brains have zero capacity for nuance,
they confuse the backwater fiction-centric narrative
of the church to be the entire lifespring of theology,
so naturally, either they believe like sheep
or reject like robot, because in a world of sheep
and cyborgs either there is god or there is not,
either you submit to blind faith or icecold logic,
there is no place for heart, humanity and tolerance!
Not Christ, but church doctrine was
a major downgrade in theology existing
hundreds and thousands of years prior,
at the same time, european reductionism
was a major downgrade in a wholesome
life-centric understanding of truth.
We need a life-centric understanding of truth,
not truth-centric understanding of life –
we need a human-centric realization of divine,
not divine-centric realization of human.

God of The Blue Rock (Sonnet) – Abhijit Naskar, Sonnets From The Mountaintop

God of the gaps cannot
be God of the world,
and God of the world should not
be abused as god of the gaps.
As puny apes on an insignificant blue rock
in a tiny backwater of the galaxy, we know
nothing about the origin of the universe,
but I can tell you one thing for a fact of
earth biology, it has nothing to do with the
anthropomorphic god of all the scriptures.
If all it takes is a couple of burning bushes,
magic tricks and fairytales to quench your
quest for truth, you have neither the brain,
nor the backbone, or the heart to explore truth.
Fairytales provide nourishment for the mind,
but only as tales of fantasy, not of truth.
Myths are crucial part of the social fabric, but
they must never become the backbone of society.
