Susan Hawke is more widely known for her mpreg writings as Susi Hawke; this new name is a departure from that. Whether written by Susan or Susi, the books are filled with that all-important love, laughter, and family; the only difference is that this name has no male pregnancy. ...more

After I got it, I looked at it and thought "What is the story here?" Within minutes, I got an idea for a single dad romance with a unique surprise baby element.

What would you do if you discovered your child wasn't yours biologically? And what if your spouse had died and wasn't here to help figure it out? And then it hit me, what if this was GOOD news? How could something like that be good news? Oh... what if was because the widowed parent knew there was a chance of a horrible genetic illness that could be passed on? Yes, that would make me glad, as a parent, to find my child didn't share my genetics.

But then, what would I do in that circumstance? I had to stop and decide who Brad was a person before I could answer that. Once I had that, I knew what he would would do. Brad would find the biological dad and try to include him in "their" daughter's life. The romance sprang from there.

Once I had Shane and Brad's "story" in my head, I had to drop everything and write it. Thanks to this book being written during a pandemic, it became super low angst and fluffier than it could've been because I wasn't in a place to write anything that didn't make me smile. (less)

If the words aren't flowing, I close the manuscript and read someone else's work to give my brain some "down time" while I enjoy another book world. Then I make myself sit down and just write. Even if all I get is a paragraph or two, I get it written and try to push through. Often times, it's a struggle for maybe an entire chapter or more. But then... it happens. All of a sudden, it clicks and the words begin to flow again.(less)
