3.5 For the first third or so of the boom I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. I was intrigued by the concept and stylistic choices but didn’t particularly enjoy the characters. And then Henry (the grandfather) was introduced and the book started to gro ...more |

| Given my love of marine animals, I'm shocked it took me so long to cross this one off my TBR. With so much to pick at within the text, I can see why this book is studied. But when reading casually, the experience isn't quite as fun. This is essential ...more | |

| This was a fun read with some heavy hitting stories. Even the stories that weren’t my cup of tea were beautifully well written/translated. My favourite story in this collection is “Roberto”. | |

3.5 Not my favourite in the series so far, but it grew on me over time. I think I prefer Roland’s present over stories of his past. The dynamic between him, Jake, Eddie, Susannah, and Oy is a big part of what I’m enjoying out of these books. |
