I find that if I just step away and maybe go for a walk, the solution to whatever problem I'm having with the story usually gets solved. My mind has a hard time letting go if I find myself in trouble, but I take off the pressure by doing something different. If the writing isn't happening, I go for a walk to ease the pressure. You only think better when you're thinking clearly.(less)

I also get to use all the story ideas that pop into my head (and I get a lot of them so I don't know what I would do if I didn't like writing) and configure them to be an inspirational, suspenseful, meaningful tale for others to (hopefully) enjoy. Writing is my outlet. (less)

MYSTERY GARDEN Retitled

It's not unusual for a book title to change (even numerous times) before it's published, and certainly each of mine have gone through their share of changes along the way. Initial titles tend to be placeholders, something to circle back to later when a good shot of inspiration strikes, unless the author has a really good feeling about their title and keeps the first one that popped to mind. “...until that moment I had not understood that this was a story about lonely people, about absence and loss, and that that was why I had taken refuge in it until it became confused with my own life, like someone who has escaped into the pages of a novel because those whom he needs to love seem nothing more than ghosts inhabiting the mind of a stranger.”
