ahh, hello!

It actually took me a ridiculously long time because I had no experience whatsoever with drawing --when I started this project-- (and very little with writing) and none with the technical layout side of things. :/ So it was very trial and error and redos due to mistakes or just plain doing things wrong the initial time.

I first wrote the story out as a novella and then took way too much time to transfer that story into picture form. I would say it took me 2.5 years from first deciding to do it, to getting it to a publisher, with plenty of screaming into pillows in between.

I am very happy if it got you feeling a certain way <3(less)

Hello back! --and thank you for reading. c:

What was my motivation for making this book-- I've been pondering this question, if you mean what was my inspiration, or what I hoped to achieve by creating it. I really had no motivation, in all honesty. I had written a story and had for a long time, thought it would be great to create a graphic novel. I didn't begin it with the intent/vision of creating something that would be ever published, tbh. That just seemed out of reach. The first drafts I was horribly unhappy with, namely because I had tried to copy how more traditional GNs flowed, and that too, was out of the reach of my creative skill and experience. So I ended up going with a more freehand technique that matched more my subject matter and my own grasping, limited ability.

I do have an idea for another graphic novel! They just take soo much time though ;-; The idea is there, the time, dedication and focus is more what I am lacking right now. But there is still time.

To aspiring writers/creators, I would say, find what you like. Analyze what you like about it. Create what you want to see more of, and add these analyzed pieces of the things you yourself enjoy or are moved by. Create what you want to see or read---for a long time, my books and drawings were conversations I was having that I could not have with anyone in real life. Make your stories and pictures your friends, and other people will befriend them....(less)

Edgar Allan Poe
“Sleep, those little slices of death — how I loathe them.”
Edgar Allan Poe

Ayn Rand
“I like to think of fire held in a man's hand. Fire, a dangerous force, tamed at his fingertips. I often wonder about the hours when a man sits alone, watching the smoke of a cigarette, thinking. I wonder what great things have come from such hours. When a man thinks, there is a spot of fire alive in his mind--and it is proper that he should have the burning point of a cigarette as his one expression.”
Ayn Rand

Arthur Rimbaud
“Il faut être absolument moderne”
Arthur Rimbaud, Une saison en enfer suivi de Illuminations et autres textes

Marguerite Duras
“Very early in my life it was too late.”
Marguerite Duras, The Lover

Arundhati Roy
“To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget.”
Arundhati Roy, The Cost of Living
