Dałem ci oczy, a ty spojrzałaś w ciemność by Irene Solà
"три покоління мертвих жінок сидять на кухні старого будинку й чекають, доки до них нарешті долучиться четверте — а це, мабуть, буде скоро, бо в повітрі вже чути грозу й цапиний запах диявола. вони готують рагу й пампушки з козенячої крові, спостеріга" Read more of this review »

Evelyn Waugh
“I have left behind illusion,' I said to myself. 'Henceforth I live in a world of three dimensions - with the aid of my five senses.'

I have since learned that there is no such world, but then, as the car turned out of sight of the house, I thought it took no finding, but lay all about me at the end of the avenue.”
Evelyn Waugh, Brideshead Revisited

Evelyn Waugh
“The langour of Youth - how unique and quintessential it is! How quickly, how irrecoverably, lost! The zest, the generous affections, the illusions, the despair, all the traditional attributes of Youth - all save this come and go with us through life...These things are a part of life itself; but languor - the relaxation of yet unwearied sinews, the mind sequestered and self-regarding, the sun standing still in the heavens and the earth throbbing to our own pulse - that belongs to Youth alone and dies with it.”
Evelyn Waugh, Brideshead Revisited

Sebastian Barry
“Time was not something then we thought of as an item that possessed an ending, but something that would go on forever, all rested and stopped in that moment. Hard to say what I mean by that. You look back at all the endless years when you never had that thought. I am doing that now as I write these words in Tennessee. I am thinking of the days without end of my life. And it is not like that now.”
Sebastian Barry, Days Without End: AN IRISH TIMES BEST IRISH BOOK OF THE 21ST CENTURY

Jean Baudrillard
“What is man if the signs that predate him have such power? A human race has to invent sacrifices equal to the natural cataclysmic order that surrounds it.”
Jean Baudrillard
