Interview
So the other day I was sent a message through Twitter to do an interview with some new website. I was a bit hesitant, but here it is if anyone wanted to read it.

New, upcoming and other stuff
If you have been waiting to read my new story, They Say the Dead Don't Drink, you can now find it online at Amazon or at www.storybrewhouse.com. It is in the new anthology, A Six Pack Of Stories, which contains 24 stories where the center piece is beer. How can you go wrong there? There is horror, sci-fi, historical and general fiction in this set, a little something for everyone. Mine is a horror piece, and I look forward to hearing what people think.
As that is released, there ar two more anthologies due out soon with stories of mine in it, but as they get closer, I will give more info on them.
Right now I am hard at work doing a new novella that I have decided to add to the upcoming collection I am releasing with my brother, Jamie Meeks. The story is an end of the worl monster tale that started off with an idea of a slick gun man in a house at the end of the world and has grown into a horrific and at time, touching story of a man that is finding that the humanity he thought he lost years ago, is creeping back as humanity falls away from the world. The story is call House in the Valley (as in the valley of death). It will be the center piece of my set of stories in Brother's Ilk.
I have also been asked to submit stories to a few "Year's Best" anthologies for consideration and have sent out a few. Who knows how that will go?
All in all, this year has been very full and I have come pretty far. I look forward to growing as a writer and seeing new people finding my work.

Year's Best
Today I shipped of At the Gates of Madness to two Year's Best anthologies. I was approached a few months back about it, but have been putting it off as I was unsure as to what stories to send. I asked people what they thought on here, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and checked reviews on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Tower and Chapters. With all said and done, I had 3 top stories to choose from, but the overall winner was The Creek. It was followed by Atheist in the Foxhole and Madcap. I sent all three stories to both anthologies to let them choose.
The one anthology I am stoked to hear back from is the one Stephen Jones puts together called The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror. These books are always packed with so much talent, I would be honored to get in there.
I will keep you all up to date.

Brothers Ilk update
Now that I finally have a laptop again, I need to get cracking on finishing my stories for the collection I am putting together with my brother, Jamie Meeks. My side of the TOC is changing a bit as I have been writing a few new stories that I want to get out to readers as fast as I can. A few of the new ones I plan on adding are All In Vein, House In the Valley and Beggar. Most of the other stories are all going to be on the older side, so it's nice to add some new ones to it as well.
We were hoping to get this one out by Christmas, but seems we may have to wait until early next year. I don't want to rush this one out like the last one though, I did learn something from pushing out At the Gates of Madness and the editing issues there.
As the time gets closer to the release date, I will be releasing the TOC for all my stories and Jamie's as well. Right now it looks like the collection will have between 20 and 26 stories in it. We're also hard at work at doing cover art and will be posting it once that's finalized. Looking forward to sharing it all.

House in the Valley
Last night I finished the firat draft on my new story, House in the Valley. The story seemed to take on a life of it's own as I went along, starting off with just a first line, then two days later I had over 12,000 words done. The story in an apocalyptic tale pf a group of people trapped in a house in the valley of death, trying to figure out how to survive and how to keep their humanity. The story follows the main character, simply known as the gun man moving back and forth from the house to how he arrived at the house. I will be working hard on editing this one so that I can include it in the upcoming release, Brothers Ilk early next year. I am putting together the TOC of my stories and my brother's and will be releasing it in the next few weeks.

New stories and photoshoot for Brother's Ilk
Brothers Ilk is quickly coming together. This past week I finished a new novella for it, House in the Valley, as well as three new short stories, Beggar, By Invitaion Only and Unopened (a follow up to Open Book). They will be joining my stories All In Vein and The Pork Pie Sisters.
Right now I am currently working on two more stories, possibly the final two for my side of the collection. One is called Faded Star, a story about a former rock star that longs for his old glory and fame and is trying to find a way to get back into the spotlight. The other story is called Gathering and is about a woman that sees signs of things changing, strangers around her that know her, causing her to fall into a paranoid nightmare. I hoping to have these done by the end of the week and start editing them as my brother ties up his stories and edits them as well.
I am also getting ready to do a photoshoot this coming week, an idea I started that Mina LaFleur pulled together into a quite the digusting cover. Once it gets going, I will be putting the first edits up on my Facebook page.

Brother's Ilk UPDATE
So here is a little update on the collection I am doing with my brother, Jamie Meeks called Brother's Ilk. The book is all but done, just in the editing stages right now with the cover and the book format already picked. The book looks like it will be a wild ride, with Jamie's bizzaro style and my own style (whatever you would class it as). Fans of At the Gates of Madness will know what to expect, and will even get a sequel to Open Book in it. There are 15 stories in it all together, including a novella by each of us, with an introduction by Jamie and a slightly lengthy afterward by yours truly. We are hoping to have everything done and have the book out by the end of the month or early Feb. Here is the TOC as it stands:
Introduction Jamie Meeks
Buckets of Money Jamie Meeks
Sister/Mother/Death Jamie Meeks
Devil’s Breath Jamie Meeks
Love From the Trashcan Jamie Meeks
Master Plan Jamie Meeks
The Red Sign Jamie Meeks

The Pork Pie Sisters Shaun Meeks
By Invitation Only Shaun Meeks
Last Room Available Shaun Meeks

House in the Valley Shaun Meeks
Afterward Shaun Meeks
Looking forward to releasing this on the world.

Review copies of Brother's Ilk
In two weeks I will be ready to ship out early PDF copies of the new collection of fiction I put together with my brother called Brother's Ilk. Unlike with At the Gates of Madness, I thought this will help with getting the word out and seeing reviews online and in print. If you are a reviewer that I haven't already spoken to about this, and would like a PDF copy to review, or if you know someone that does reviews on horror books, feel free to contact me here or on Facebook and I'll be glad to send one out when they are ready.

At the Gates of Madness
With At the Gates of Madness gain popularity, getting noticed and being add to many "year's best lists" I thought I would add the link here so that people can add it here on Good Reads. I've also seen sales going up, reviews added on Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Tower and other sites, and each of those reviews and the adds on here help to not only show me a bit of support as an indie writer, but also might let others see it and will spark some interest. I know I have looked into books because I've seen them on other's lists, or even because they recommend them to me when I may have never seen them before. For indie writers, these social networking sites are so important. So if you have time and want to show so love and support, here's where you can add it, rate it, review it and recommend it.
Thank you to everyone that has bought, shared, recommended and supported this book.
