Review for Dreams of a Dead Man

A great review for my story "Dreams of a Dead Man" which appeared in Zombies Gone Wild! (an anthology). Posted by Joshua Skye (DarkMedia.com):
"Shaun Meeks’s “Dreams of a Dead Man” follows the melancholy days of a dutiful husband pining away for the life he once had and what perhaps may be. He’s dead now, you see, a member of a maligned minority in the aftermath of a misunderstood zombie-uprising. The living and the dead have been forced to integrate and zombies have become the bane of society, the object of open ridicule and prejudice. It’s the ultimate post-modern parable and what a fascinatingly profound work it is. Even with its blatant social commentary and media criticism, “Dreams of a Dead Man” is deceptively simple and could easily be taken purely at face value. It is, however, captivatingly insightful. The author places his protagonist repeatedly on a bus, the allegory pointed and appropriate but perhaps lost to the casual reader. The story addresses bullying and chauvinism but also the self-deprecating paranoia born of the ‘what if they were right?’ mentality. Within the context of an alternate take on the undead, the dream of the oppressed to rise up and claim their rightful equality by any means necessary is cleverly presented in this stand-out story."

A Feast of Frights review by the BFS

Earlier this year, The Horror Zine released a great anthology called A Feast of Frights. The book features poetry, fiction, art and interviews, as well as a great introduction by legend Ramsey Campbell. The editor, Jeani Rector has compiled so great talent of establish writers and those on the rise. The book features my story, The Soldier, as well as stories by Joe R. Lansdale, Tom Piccirilli, Graham Masterton, Susie Moloney, Simon Clark, Ed Gorman, Joe McKinney, Christian Larsen and so many more. It was such an honour to be in the book and even more to be mention in the review by The British Fantasy Society. If you want to read what they said, here is the link:

Jeani is also currently puting together the next Horror Zine anthology which will have my story, Red Velvet in it. It's going to be packed again with great stories.

Review copies of Brother's Ilk

In two weeks I will be ready to ship out early PDF copies of the new collection of fiction I put together with my brother called Brother's Ilk. Unlike with At the Gates of Madness, I thought this will help with getting the word out and seeing reviews online and in print. If you are a reviewer that I haven't already spoken to about this, and would like a PDF copy to review, or if you know someone that does reviews on horror books, feel free to contact me here or on Facebook and I'll be glad to send one out when they are ready.

At the Gates of Madness

With At the Gates of Madness gain popularity, getting noticed and being add to many "year's best lists" I thought I would add the link here so that people can add it here on Good Reads. I've also seen sales going up, reviews added on Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Tower and other sites, and each of those reviews and the adds on here help to not only show me a bit of support as an indie writer, but also might let others see it and will spark some interest. I know I have looked into books because I've seen them on other's lists, or even because they recommend them to me when I may have never seen them before. For indie writers, these social networking sites are so important. So if you have time and want to show so love and support, here's where you can add it, rate it, review it and recommend it.
Thank you to everyone that has bought, shared, recommended and supported this book. At the Gates of Madness by Shaun Meeks
