Sending money to the wrong person or paying for something that didn’t go as planned can be stressful — especially when it happens on Venmo. While Venmo transactions are typically instant, there are still a few ways to recover your money if you act quickly.

1. Check if the Payment Is Still Pending
If you sent money to someone who doesn’t have an active Venmo account, your payment may show as “Pending.”
In this case, you’re in luck — you can cancel the transaction directly from the Venmo app:
Open the Venmo app and tap the “Me” tab.


Go to “Incomplete” → “Payments.”


Select the pending transaction and tap “Cancel Payment.”


This works only for pending payments — once the money is accepted, it can’t be canceled.
