We live in the most incredible time for writers where the world is available at the click of a button to read our stories. I'm self-published and it's my full time job now. If I can do it, so can you. It will take work, time, discipline, love for the job. And yes, talent. But if you have the desire to write, you have that desire for a reason. How do you get inspired to write?

Sabrina Lacey Once I have a character in mind, plus a situation, it all flows from there. I have a daily word count quota. I don't stop writing until I've hit that,…moreOnce I have a character in mind, plus a situation, it all flows from there. I have a daily word count quota. I don't stop writing until I've hit that, so the inspiration comes from falling in love with the character(s) and what they're going through, and the "inspired to write" comes from discipline. If I don't make myself hit the quota every day, then these ideas, and my character's lives, would just float around in the ethers.

As far as what stories inspire me - I love flawed bumpy roads to love. My people aren't perfect, they're more human than that. I allow them to fall down and get back up on their own, with me journaling about it as they go. Because I never plan plot, I'm always surprised and that keeps things interesting.(less)
