Good job busting this myth! Add some other rodents and vote for some real ones to push the Rabbits down the list!

I'm pretty sure that I cannot delete anything but my own votes.

As a librarian, I can delete any book from a list -- though I wouldn't do so if you didn't want me to. So, any books you think are inappropriate?
Peter Rabbit, I suppose. I think the rest on the list also feature a real rodent. Thanks so much! I'll not believe the guy at Pet Smart next time he tells me Rabbits are rodents.
I voted for two of them, but going to say it here as well, because he deserves it. Toon Tellegen writes the best animal short-stories ever. It's amazing how poignant and emotional and true they are, and how few words he needs to truly move you. Not all of them have been translated to English, but I still recommend him :)
I'll try to see if I can find some of his books here (geographically at least, it IS after all just a short way) ... thanks for the recommendation!Same story as with some of my favorite books though (and not just children's books, either). I keep voting for them, but since they haven't been translated into English (or the translations are long OOP), they aren't widely known and my votes tend to remain the only ones! :(
Yeah it can be very frustrating to want to promote old favorites, which deserve the world-wide recognition, and fail because so few books are translated into english in comparison with the other way around.
Well, I'm happy to report that several of Toon Tellegen's books have been translated into German ... and judging by the preview feature on Amazon.de, they are charming indeed!
Well, I couldn't think of any books I'd read that featured them, but apparently chipmunks, beavers, porcupines, and hamsters are all rodents.

I think they used to be classified as rodents, once upon a time, but got changed to ruminants... I'll have to go read the two articles to see if my memory is working correctly.
ETA: From the article. Though these mammals can resemble rodents (order Rodentia) and were classified as a superfamily in that order until the early twentieth century, they have since been considered a separate order.
not ruminants, lagomorphs. I was close...

There she is! Welcome to the fun and games :-)
Of Mice and Men doesn't actually have any mice in it (unless you count the Lennie's dead mouse but I don't think it qualifies as a central character)
