I had to go waaaay down to find Emma, but I guess it's sort of a niche title. Probably not a lot of people interested in reading a Victorian romance set in England in a Japanese manga.

lol...i agree...Emma is an awesome manga! it's so much deeper and real than all these other mangas! Not to say the other mangas aren't great in their own way, Emma just have that special thing that really draws u in and makes u think!

Removed some books that weren't even manga, also removed the following because they're shounen and NOT shoujo (some even appear in Shounen Jump) so they're not supposed to be on this list:

I can understand how it couldn't reach first place (where it deserves to be *sniff sniff*) because a) it's old, b) the art is nothing to drool over.. But, come on, how can it not even be among the first 50? 100? *sigh*

School Rumble and Toradora were both published in shounen magazines and are therefore shounen, not shoujo

I vote Fruits Basket #1, The Queens Knight #2, and Othello #3. Although I don't consider Othello a full shoujo because it's more about self esteem and rock music than it is about the romance, but is still very good. If anyone is looking for good recommendations that's what I've got.
