Listopia > Romeo & Julian (M/M only, of course)
What goes:
Rival families, clans, packs, species, neighbourhoods, countries, religions etc.
Two MC's, one from each rival entity, falling in love. Dying optional ;)
Please, no straight-forward enemies/rivals-to-lovers. This is about sneaking around and secrets and forbidden love! MC's have to love each other. It's their community/family who stands in the way.

Thanks!I don't think Concubine works tho :( They didn't sneak around, like proper R&J, to elope, the prince was given away by his father.

Ooops, I didn't catch that distinction. *goes to remove half of my list*
Nice list! Just yesterday saw a book named Romeo and Julian and thought about checking it out)))BTW, does True Brit fit here? I haven't read it, but it's about two rivals in a singing competition...I thought the list was more about the enemy families/countries etc?
Gaven Series doesn't fit either :(MC's have to love each other. It's their community/family who stand in the way.

Yeah, I added that. Removed now. Sorry!
@NannyOggThank you! :)
It's simple, really. Just like Romeo and Juliette - they are in love from the beginning or almost from the beginning, but everyone else is against it.

I don't think that fits either, but while I can create a list, I cannot control it :(
I thought putting Romeo & Julian in the title is self-explanatory.
Umm... in that case, do The Magpie Lord and Lord of the White Hell fit? In TML they do have some bad blood between their families, but by the time they met each other their families were dead, and nothing stood in their way...
And in LoWH, they just didn't like each other... they were of different social classes and different countries, but I think the main problem was that one of them was feared by the entire university? I'm not sure though, read it a long time ago...

I could remove the non-fitting books. )) Just point them out to me.
I guess there will be lots of enemies-to-lovers stories here))))

I unvoted for it. :)
Sneaking around changes things. :D
Sorry about True Brit. I thought it might count since one of the guys is an Afghani man who lived all his life in England, and the other one is a British ex-soldier, just back from his tour in Afghanistan, and this fact is played up a lot by producers, journalists, etc.I can remove the book if you like.

Well, there was Stephen's disapproving aunt in TML... Though I should unvote for sequels then. And Kiram's family in LOWH was not all approving of Javier and wanted him to marry a man of their nationality.

Okay definitely don't remember that about LoWH, my bad!
But in TML, yeah the aunt didn't approve, but I think the sneaking was more because of the period setting than because of the animosity between their families...
NannyOgg wrote: "But in TML, yeah the aunt didn't approve, but I think the sneaking was more because of the period setting than because of the animosity between their families..."Yes, you're probably right.
People who also read Magpie Lord, what do you think?
I think the Magpie Lord fits, kinda? There were definitely family issues there...M'rella, is sneaking around an absolute must?
Lala wrote: "M'rella, is sneaking around an absolute must?"It has to be mostly a secret, just like in Romeo and Julio. But I haven't read Magpie series yet, so I don't really know what's happening in there.
Also, not like MC's in Captive Prince or Counterpoint are exactly sneaking around, but their love relationship is never truly open and accepted. It's up to you then :)
M'rella, you haven't read The Magpie Lord? Now I know what to pick if I ever get you in a challenge. :)Now that I think about it, they did a lot to keep their relationship secret, especially in the second book, hiding it from Stephen's friends and colleagues since, if revealed, it could put Crane in grave danger magic-wise. Plus the period setting.

These are very compact books. Don't deprive yourself of that awesomeness.
