How do you get inspired to write?

Rebecca Duvall Scott Inspiration just hits me sometimes - I have learned it isn't something I can force. I can try and capture thoughts and ideas on notepads as they come to me, but usually (mostly in the dead of night!) I suddenly think of what I need to say and have to hurry and write it out before it leaves me. While writing "Sensational Kids, Sensational Families" I often holed myself up in my room for a few days at a time to get it all out while I was in the zone. My family has gotten very good at knowing when I'm seriously writing, they're to fend for themselves until I emerge. Luckily, I have a wonderful husband and two pretty self-sufficient kids!
