Heated Rivalry follows Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, two of the best players in the NHL, pitted against each other by the media as rivals. But when the skates come off, the heat between them is undeniable. As their attraction intensifies, they struggle to keep their relationship out of the public eye. If the truth comes out, it could ruin them both.

I love enemies-to-lovers in SFF, but in contemporary, I'm always disappointed in the execution of it. My main gripe about enemies-to-lovers is that authors are so quick to jump from characters that loathe each other to characters that would die for each other. It doesn't feel like there are any stakes.

But this book does it SO well!! The stakes are constantly high, and you get to see the characters slowly fall for one another. It takes place over the span of seven years. Their relationship really is enemies-to-enemies with benefits-to-friends-to-lovers

Rereading this book, I realized that the reason I love it is that it kind of has some similarities with RWRB. Both have characters who don't like each other, who end up falling in love but then keep pretending that they don't feel anything for each other and their relationship is just physical because they're idiots. Soo, I think that is my favorite romance trope?

It's just such a fun read. It's so easy and quick to read, it's v steamy, and the characters are so endearing. Shane is a precious bean, and Ilya is a perfect grumpy boy.

Also, this is the first book in this series that is getting a direct sequel, another book focusing on Ilya and Shane, and I'm so excited for it!! Hope it's just as good as this one 🤞😌
