Alright then, I'm very conflicted about this but let's start with the bright side. The books hits a great start. I was absolutely hooked after few chapters. The author knows her stuff. She has a way with words and I absolutely enjoyed every phrase. The characters are layered and I appreciate the fact that there has been clearly quite amount of effort and research put behind every issue that had been brought up. The book also clearly knows how to create a image, the details of the scenery and people so graphic that you can see it with your minds eye.

BUT(because there is usually one when sth has been brought to you with great expectations)...

There is too much of everything. And I don't mean just the angst, because God knows that one doesn't end when your in this story(and we'll go back to that). There are too many words, too many unnecessary phrases, even pages. Specially some chapters of the second half of the book were just dragging everything along. The phrases still were amazing but sometimes it just felt like adding too much sprinkles on a cake to cover a slip in the design. The book discussed so many important things. And although I have been already given multiple and through heads up on that, I still felt like drowning in a pitch black tar pit with no way to breathe, like an animal decaying in lava. That feeling just keeps going on and on and on forever with not a single moment for the reader to regain their footing. And I think there is a certain touch in knowing when what is enough, when you need to catch a break and start again stronger because otherwise it'll turn into an exaggerated unending loop of drama that unfortunately became quite off-putting for me.
