Omg. What the hell? And Freddie didn't smell her?? I'm sorry, it's not going to make me hate on the whole series... much, but you can't create vampire lore and then just disregard it when it's convenient for the plot!

I'm enjoying this one for the most part, but the "querida" instead of "querido" is really starting to bother me - it's not that hard for an author to spot-check the odd Spanish word and get it right, if they're going to include it. And the fact that Freddie isn't bringing in back up right now? That literally makes no sense, which is just taking me out of the story since he's supposed to be so competent... 😐

Well, that little interlude with Artemis was adorable! It just might get me to pick up some of this author's f/f stories. Even though I'm usually a strictly m/m type of reader 😊

Yesssssssss! This author literally never disappoints, and I am absolutely living for the Greek gods in the modern world here! I also adore Ti and his efforts to find Hades' sense of humor 🥰

Eeeeee!!! I'm only 5% in and this is a new-to-me author and literally NOTHING has happened yet, but hearing about the mysterious job Lachlan will be starting in the morning just gave me excited butterflies in my stomach because it's ON! And not to jinx it but I have a really good feeling about this book 😁

I really want to like this, but I'm having trouble with the way the author keeps glossing over the fact that none of them have spoken for a year... It feels like a forced plot device to drag things out that conflicts with the backstory she's given these guys. It's making it hard for me to get as invested as I'd like to be in the story.

This book is ridiculously wholesome, and I'm definitely enjoying it... But it does veer a little bit into feeling too scripted. Like, the dialogue is NOT natural-sounding. Worst, it's like it's trying too hard... Especially the teenagers. Still, it's a nice feel-good vibe for a holiday read, and well I definitely need a break, I am enjoying it :-)

Omg ........... I swear that during almost every conversation these guys have, one or the other of them gets lost in thought and has to be nudged back into the conversation. Like, once? Sure. But every conversation? I feel like I've read things from this author before and enjoyed them, but I have to admit their storytelling style is starting to really annoy me with this one.

I'm getting impatient for something romantic to happen. So far it's mostly been Brent having flashbacks of his childhood in every scene, and Uly stressing about what is no doubt going to end up being an ADHD diagnosis. But even when they were on page together briefly, there weren't any sparks :/

This is a new to me author, and so far I'm enjoying his writing style a lot. I have to admit, though, the whole situation with the exes is suuuuper uncomfortable... and I'm not a huge fan of a potential love interest introduced for Chip in chapter 5, when it's not the guy he'll end up with. 😬

The premise of this one sounds fun, but I guess it is really short since I'm already a third of the way through it... and the writing style is REALLY heavy-handed. Almost every other paragraph is a tell-not-show reminder to the reader of the sinister undertone, and while I'm still here to find out what happens, it's definitely an annoying way to get there.

I thought I was prepared after reading other reviews for the fact that the romance in this takes a back seat to the mystery, but at this point I still don't actually like River at all... and also don't see any sign that he actually likes Cyrus. It's starting to put a bad taste in my mouth. :/

This has been pretty cute if you totally discount any realism of an alien appearing human enough to pass the way Eteriion is, but that reveal The scene was so poorly done I literally would have thought it was a spoof but... nope. That's really the way the author decided to play it? Not only was it a complete 180 to Eteriion's previous stance about not revealing himself, but now I'm seriously considering DNFing.

Still cute, but the insta-let's-date here feels too rushed given Theo's kid + backstory.

I'm so happy to be back in this completely crazy world the author has cooked up for their not-quite-Christmas series. So. Much. Fun! And Echo waking up the way he did at the beginning of Chapter 7? Squeeeee! I can't WAIT until he runs into Vale and Vale realizes It Didn't Work 🤣🤣🤣

I mean, come on! I've broken bones before, and adrenaline or not, with *that* kind of pain??? I just can't see it happening 🤣

You know that feeling when you put a book on your TBR and then wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait for it to come out... and then it DOES? And you snatch it up so fast your Kindle smokes, and then end up squeeing through the whole first 20% and having a Very Good Feeling that it will deliver everything you were hoping for??? No? Just me? 🤣🤣🤣

They're having their very first on-page dailogue at 30% ... ugh. Not the first conversation that happens between them, just the first one we actually get to see in real time. So far, I'm liking the idea of this story more than the execution. The author is passively telling me all about what happened--all exposition; no engaging investment in the characters. And becoming conversational in a new language after 2 weeks?

I saw another reviewer comment on one of this new-to-me author's books that there were endless paragraphs repeating the same information... over and over and OVER. And so far, it's true... and annoying... and yet I'm trying to stick it out because I really want to see what happens when the slave wakes up!!! 🤣

Ugh! I love this author, adore her twist on the fairytale and the organic-to-the-character feel of Zel grappling with his identity... but I HAAAAAAAATE the "I'll make a decision for his own good without telling him" lack-of-communication trope 😭 WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!?! The story is still good and I have faith in this author, but Ulrich better hurry up, pull his head out of his ass, and talk it out with Zel SOON.

I'm not in love with the single POV... is the whole book this way? Also, while I don't mind a snarky, defensive MC, Red sniping at Wim is already getting old. I hope things switch up soon because his rudeness is losing my sympathy fast. :/

Well, much like the last book, this one is another master class in rewriting everyone's characterization on a whim vs making them feel like actual real people with consistent personalities throughout the series. That, plus the abundance of repetitive tell-not-show info dumps, is seriously getting on my nerves. (Yes, Ash, we get it. You've been emotionally fucked up by your out-of-the-blue millionaire/criminal father)
