I wish publishers chose audiobook narrators who have the same accent as the protagonist of the book (where applicable). This narrator is highly competent, but I just wish they'd chosen someone with a Japanese accent instead of a British one. It would bring the story to life all the more.

Halfway in and I can see that this story has so much heart

Was getting a bit impatient with all the baby stuff - call me callous but yeah, everyone told her that being a teen mom was going to be hard - but her dad asking to be her new roommate is changing my mind on DNFing. The writing has a subtle wit and charm, and now Margo is a bit endearing

This far in and I'm unsure why r/horrorlit adores this book. It's just fine. Psychological horror and long-winded ramblings from the trapped scientists, but when everything is a delusion I find myself unwilling to care. Why get invested when nothing is real? Unlikeable characters are unraveling, oh no.

I hope Clayton, Ali and the dog live. Mostly Ali and the dog.

And yet, in the next scene she tempts a Xtian woman into a fake KKK club, then gets off when the woman takes the bait. She posts the DMs on Reddit and relishes the coming downfall

This protag is kinda fucked up and def weird, love that she makes a strong impression so soon

Entertaining so far but all these characters trust her way too easily. "Knowing a version of the future" but she doesn't have to prove herself constantly? Their trust feels unearned. Knowing some secrets is one thing, ordering people around bc they would otherwise die is another. I wish someone would remain skeptical of her for more than a day

This was recommended as weird girl lit, but she's just a deeply envious person. She also feels like she's locked into the step before looksmaxxing, even hovering on the threshold. I'm sorry to say she - and the story - is as boring as she knows she is. So far, anyway.
