Edwin is finished with A Treatise on the Right Use of the Fathers in the Decision of Controversies Existing at this Day in Religion. By John Daille with a Preface by the Rev. G. Jekyll. 2nd American edition, Revised and Corrected. 1856.
Truly a fascinating book with interesting arguments brought forth against Roman Catholics and on their use of the Early Church Fathers in justifying dubious fragments of their faith. However, I do wish there were more thorough examples and a thorough analysis of however many passages by however many Early Church Fathers.

His analysis on the Early Church Fathers is fair and a good example of what Protestants believe in. Whilst they may revere and respect the Fathers, they don’t hold their writings as infallible, especially due to the history of paradoxical and controversial views that may have been held.

Currently, there are strong points against the overreliance of the early Church Fathers, ranging from mistranslations, forged works, abused passages, and contradictory and incomprehensible passages; they're acknowledge to be learnt men, many of good faith, but they ultimately do not have a coherent view.

The chapters pertaining to the matter of the affairs the early Fathers were dealing with and the multitudes of forgeries attributed to various early Fathers or forgeries cited by the early Fathers was fascinating.

The early, Primitive Church was the purest but unfortunately, our writings from that epoch are either limited or have been destroyed or vanished, which makes it unsurprising that after the 3rd and 4th century, the writings concerning the Church are greater in quantity and allow for Papists and the Orthodox to strictly concern themselves over.

Edwin is finished with Raising Hare: A Memoir
Wow. How beautiful of a book! I enjoyed the last few chapters as whilst it still spoke about the hare and her leverets, it also transitioned to being an introspective regarding about the greater connection formed with nature and the realisation of how beautiful, no matter how minor, the World is with its different creatures and species, flora, and how it all intertwines.
It's a book perfect for those who love nature

It's nice to also reflect on the connection of man and beast whilst reading this. Of course, it's about hares, but there's also a special appreciation for the entirety of nature and all the creatures that dwell within.
It makes me want to raise a hare from the wild and create a suitable ecosystem, or at least 'revive' one as Dalton did...

Poor little Leveret, finding its freedom but never forgetting the centre of its home range. It's fascinating to know that hares have a 'home range' of 15-20 km.

An adorable book about the 'adoption' of a feral leveret, or baby hare. The visualisation by the author is terrific.

Bede recounting the pious lives of Ethelreda and Abbess Hilda were fascinating; how holy women could be and how they could serve as an example to other women in their devotion to our Lord...

Finished book three; the feud between the Anglo-Saxons and Celtics in Christianity is interesting, particularly when it came to Easter Observance. And of all the tribes, the Northumbrians seemed to be the most devout and loyal to Christ, whose populations did not rebel against the Church nor did they launch austere campaigns to erect pagan idols and close Churches.

The account of King Edwin of Northumbria in book two was fascinating, particularly his conversion to Christianity and the visions he had whilst under the protection of King Redwald of the East Anglians after his exile.

It was interesting to read about the early Church developments behind sacraments like baptism, the Eucharist, and confession; the part on Arianism and the Nicene theology was interesting as well, but quite thorough and dry.
I think, so far, this book is great if you're interested in how the gears, even the tiniest ones, of early Christianity worked; if you're more interested in a general overview, this book isn't it.

Irenaeus and Origen are particularly interesting, especially Origen with how he began the idea of 'Theosis'; as well as how intriguing the differences were present between the West and the East, or 'legalism' and 'mysticism.'

I thought the first book of the text is excellent but my primary issue with it is that Augustine isn't a great writer and he can sometimes repeat himself and the ideas he's putting forth.
Personally, the first book alone should suffice. I think, for now, I'll stop reading it and return to a later date if I'm feeling daring enough.

So far - so good; personally, I was more interested in the historical aspect of the development of doctrines, which the book does well, but it's filled with a large amount of information pertaining to different Patristic Fathers across the 2nd - 4th centuries; it can be a bit of a mish mash but it's not difficult to comprehend, perhaps a bit dry?

Compelling points pertaining to the Trinity; much of the emphasis was on the two forms of Christ - the human and the divine; for as human, he is subordinate to the Father, because he is limited by his carnal abilities, whilst in his divine form, his pre-incarnate Glory, he is equal to the Father and both are united as God.
Overall, the points were great, easy to follow, but roughly written. Augustine wasn't St. John

The tale of Maeglin and Ëol was fascinating, especially how Ëol perished; genuinely my favourite part of the book.
I also enjoyed the recollection of the Westward expansion of the Avari/Edain/Man and how they established themselves in Beleriand and which House of the three waves aligned to one of the Eldar houses.
