Hi Marie,
Thanks for the question! Honestly, I have been wanting to write a blog about this for Goodreads, but have been crazy busy, but the answer is YES!! Lol.
Actually, The Black Ledger was optioned in February to a LLC entertainment firm with associations to the New York production of the recently closed "Jersey Boy" production. Those folks are working the book into two separate production values, a screenplay and a theatrical production. They adapted the theatrical script and sent it to me just last we for revisions.. Very Weird to see your book in script form😳... Anyhoo, they will be holding some readings very soon and I've been told they may have some interest for one of the writers from the NBC show "This is us" But that's not a done deal or anything. Now, as to a continuing series, a lot depends on where the book goes theatricality. I really like the idea of of a continuing series with these characters, especially since they were all based on real people. Another option has been for some prequel consideration, which is a very real possibility as well.. Hope that gives you some idea of where it's going, Thanks so much for the question and reading the book, hope you enjoyed it..dg

I'm making it a point to catch up on my Dicken's (that sounded weird) but anyway Charles is my favorite author of all time and that's my plan. Also, just heard of book comparing Winston Churchill and George Orwell and their quest to define the truth during the 1930's... I have to find that one...

You've heard of "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" Well, I have a dog that friended a ghost! True Story - add expletives here!!!! We were moving out of an old farm house into the city, and I knew I had two trips left, so I decided to leave my beautiful Golden Retriever at the farm house for a couple of hours until I drove into the city, dumped the furniture then returned to close up and make sure I had everything. Well, I returned to the farm house around midnight, and it was pitch black outside. However, I left the living room light on for the dog, so I could see inside the house as I walked up to the porch. I stopped cold in my tracks when out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a tennis ball sailing through the air inside the house. A moment later I spotted my dog running after the ball and returning it out of my view. To the say the least I was bewildered - to say the most I was scared to death. Slowly, I walked up the porch wide eyed and terrified as I spotted my dog running back and forth after this tennis ball that seemed to come out of no where. Remember, I wasn't thinking ghost at this point, I was thinking intruder playing with my dog. So, I braced myself and quickly pulled open the screen door, turned the knob on the front door and kicked it open with my foot. I stood ready to pounce on the first person saw, only to be greeted by a tail wagging dog with a tennis ball firmly lodged in her mouth. WE LEFT IMMEDIATELY! Months later, I returned to the area on some business and stopped to talk to some neighbors, I told them what happened, and they didn't even crack a smile. Instead, they looked at me and said it sounded like old Mrs. Jacobs, a 100 year old woman who died in that house years and years ago. They went on to say that she absolutely loved dogs and never left that house! I'd like to know more about Mrs. Jacobs..

Well, I sort of lived it 37 years ago. I toyed with writing it straight up as a biography but attorneys, and Oprah scared me away from that thought. Then when I had the freedom to take characters out for a ride, so to speak, the novel just fell into place. It truly is inspired by actual events and something I felt might be of interest to others. Few white people get or want the opportunity to experiance what I did working in the ghetto of Chicago, and with all the misinformation, racism and stereotypes out there, I felt this book might actually help change the dialog.

Injustice. There are so many people whose voices are never heard because of their status, whether it be race, creed, color, or situation and I believe in my heart that EVERYONE NEEDS A CHAMPION. The absolute greatest contribution a writer can make - is to be someone's champion. The pen is truly mightier than the sword and the ability to tell someone's story, like Katherine Stockett who wrote about "The Help" or Christy Brown's "My Left Foot" is what inspires me the most.

Well, I'm thrill to say that I optioned "The Black Legder" and I'm just beginning the process of laying out a pilot and screen play for the work. I have a collaberation agreement and literally don't know what the hell I'm doing, but I trust the people who are guiding me along, and they think I have some talent, (right) so hopefully something good might happen.
Book wise, I'm working on a compilation of stories about women who have made some bad choices choosing men. This is in collaberation with a young writer named Sarah R. and hoping to have this dome very soon.

Write because you need to, not because you want to. Everyone has a story and everyone can write a book, but few can tell a story. Don't be afraid to wait, let yourself grow and mature into a story teller as opposed to falling into the societal trap of "IT MUST BE DONE NOW". A writer should be like a fine wine that has a bit of age, a lot of sun, and just the right amount of water. Not to say that recent vintages or young writers can't be great, they can be amazing! But time is a writers greatest asset, the more time you put into your work, the better you will become.

Nothing... It's horrible. It's like a disease, you have to do it. Something inside of you demands that you write these thoughts and situations that are driving you absolutely crazy. Then you show people - who tell you the stuff you wrote is crap, and you go back and do it again, knowing you're about to be rejected for the hundredth time. If there is a saving grace about being a writer, it's the ability to convey a thought, and do it with credibility. Of course, I might be exagerating a bit, but it's an art form like any other, and the best art comes from pain, writing is painful, lol.

The easy answer is wine, Beatles and/or Frank Sinatra if it gets real bad. But, honestly when I'm horribly stuck, I role play with my characters. Everyone has been in a situation where someone makes a snarky remark to you and you have no comeback until hours later - when you think "God, if I would have only said this", lol. That's writers block in a nutshell, and what I do is give my characters a chance to tell me what I should say, do, or write next. The little figments of your imagination are marvelous at inspiring you...
