A contemporary American author and master storyteller, Donald Morrison is renowned for weaving intricate tapestries of science fiction, horror and fantasy. Boasting an impressive catalog of over 30 published works, Morrison captivates his readers with narratives that delve into the dark and thought-provoking corners of the human experience. His ability to blend spine-chilling suspense with a profound sense of dread sets him apart in the literary landscape. Synonymous with names like King and Koontz, Morrison's writings are not just a journey through terrifying realms and thrilling escapades; they're an exploration of the shadows that lurk within us all. ...more

I don't write.
I know it's unorthodox, and every blog or article that you come across on the web will tell you that no matter what, you just need to start writing and push through it. I don't follow that mindset. I write when I feel inspired to write. If I'm having a case of writers block I close the computer and go on about my day. There's sometimes where weeks or even a month or two will go by where I'm just not "feeling it". I don't like spending time writing words that are going to get tossed aside or deleted later. I'd rather wait until my focus is there, inspiration hits and I can work to my full potential. Of course, everyone is different, and it's probably a good practice to write every single day in order to improve your skills, but myself. I write when inspired, not just for the sake of writing.(less)

If I finished every single book I have technically in the works, I would have another nineteen novels on top of the six that I already have finished. I'll highlight a few that I'm in the middle of right now.
1: Rabid Lands 2; Maya's Requiem.
This is the sequel to Rabid Lands, a unique twist on the zombie genre, telling a tale of infection from the perspective of small animals as they battle a rabies mutation in the forest. The lead characters are Maya; a rat, and Chuck and Charlie; both guinea pigs. The sequel takes place almost immediately after the conclusion of the first and is the story of Maya getting revenge on the humans for creating the strain of virus that was released into the forests water supply, creating the monsters that they had to battle in the first. This is another super action packed zombie tale, but with tails of their own.

2. The Isle of Children.
This is a dark, gothic fantasy about a young boy who escapes an orphanage and is lost at sea. When his boat reaches land, its an island inhabited by children that have been "rescued" by an older man they refer to as Father. But just like Father, the island holds dark secrets, and the creature that stalks the woods surrounding the mansion, feeding upon the innocence of youth at night is just the beginning. I am taking visual inspiration for this book from Guillermo Del Toro's film style. It's dark, gritty and has a tainted hint of fairytale to it. This is going to be another really good one :-)

3. Dawn of the Magi (Working Title).
I have yet to create the subtitle for this piece, but have already started framing it out and building the world and characters within. This will be a prequel to the first book, taking place a thousand years before the events that unfolded in Dawn of the Magi. I will be diving into the Magi and who they are, and the events that led up to the First War of Magic. This will be another epic tale the level of the first.

I also like I said, have another dozen that I have already started framing out and even begun writing. Stay tuned!(less)

The recent election and Grey Zone.

Grey ZoneWhen I wrote my novel Grey Zone, I had no idea the stunning parallels it was going to have with the nation's current situation. I initially wrote the story to be a metaphor for how the U.S. has treated Hispanics and African-Americans since the forties. I created the "Greys", which in my story are people whom are stricken with a mutation that without medicine, causes them to take on zombie Read more of this blog post »
