Sometimes a hidden or a not so visible book could become your next favorite read. Let’s see which are the best of the not so well-known or read.
For this list are combined two key elements: the number of ratings and the average of those ratings.
PLEASE READ the following requirements which should apply to the books that will be added or voted here:
- between 5 and 200 ratings on Goodreads (because a book needs an average rating)
- published at least 6 months ago; recent titles or titles whose publishing date is missing are not allowed
- an average rating of at least 3.75 (this was chosen keeping in mind that the final result is selecting books which are well-appreciated by their readers)
EDITED 06/21/2015: the limit of 150 was changed to 200 ratings
As a consequence of the above all the titles that have reached 200 ratings or in time have come under the 3.75 mark will be removed from this list.
If the requirements appear to be too restrictive, anyone who wants to add/vote unpopular books, the below lists could be an alternative option.

A rating of 3.75 or more? Or just in the vicinity of 3.75?

Yeah probably. And a crap list. I have a few that could go on both."
Then we'd know which books to avoid. :)
lee wrote: "...I have great taste in books, but not everyone agrees :D..."hahaha. ehemm.. I would love to see the over-rated m/m list guys.
I have a lot to catch up with...I don't think I have read any of these yet.
I can't vote, but I am definitely going to "add"
I want it too, Mich...if someone else creates it. It feels too mean-spirited to do myself. Someone else can be the bad guy.I've read one one whole book from this, When the Music Stops, which is a favorite. I added several books from this handy list.
I think a common thread here is that a lot of the titles I recognise aren't really m/m romance. They are books with gay heroes. Ot there may be love present but no happy future. Or if there is a happy future, the characters arrive at it in uncoventional ways. It's a shame that books like these don't get read along with the others. They provide the spice that ensures a steady diet of m/m romance doesn't give us a toothache.
Neither better, nor worse. Just different.

I see that 100 ratings is enough to get you deleted from this list. So it's good to see that a few books no longer qualify. The other list? It's not the book's fault that it's being read by so many people, more a reflection on the fact that people aren't prepared to read or recommend anything different.
The Trouble With Elves has already more than 200 rating - I liked it - but shouldn't it be removed from this list? Also there are many more books here with more than 150 ratings:
Greenwode
The Amethyst Cat Caper
Sub Zero
Blessed Isle
Signal to Noise
Beyond the Edge
All Wrapped Up
Ink
Exodus
The Arroyo
Adagio
Echoes of Us
The Heart of Frost
Highfell Grimoires
All Lessons Learned
A Hard Winter Rain
Mahu Vice

Thanks for your observations! The upper limit has been updated to 200, so many of them will remain on the list.

Or steamy. Could be steamy. Actually, insert your own wink-nudge euphemism...
Anyone can add books to this list.
