As a Kentucky author, I can't overlook the opportunity to research and write about the issues of that day with all of this history right here all around me. The tension in this state was really building during this time period. Kentucky had it all going on! They had slaves, abolitionists and slave owners all living right here. Slave auctions in Lexington and Louisville were common. Many escaped across the Ohio River, calling it their Jordan crossing.

It is no surprise that a Kentuckian known as Abraham Lincoln left us such an incredible legacy in the plight and struggle of the suffering. I'm excited to let readers know that "Protecting Miss Jenna" is available for pre-order right now (my first pre-order) at Amazon and launches November 21, 2015! Readers will love the excitement of all of this tension as they sink their teeth into this rich historical romance meant to inspire and delight readers. (less)

It has really been awesome to have this time to reconnect with her and to see her getting to know her grandchildren. This event really seemed to inspire me as I wrote this story. Family relationships are so important. I wanted this book to reflect kindness, love, forgiveness, restoration and redemption... all themes which are so vital in our lives and relationships. In the real story of Ruth and Boaz, every single character behaved with kindness toward each other. I wrote this book with all of this deeply on my heart and mind. Kindness is something hard to find but we know from reading God's word that it is of great value in His eyes. It is terribly overlooked and underestimated in our busy, fast paced and modern lives. It starts with each of us, in our very own homes and in the lives of those we connect with on a daily basis within our community. (less)

“I've never met anyone as kind as you are, except me Mum, o' course." --Benjamin Trimmel to Lady Alexandra.”

“You must remember also that He would never make any mistake in creating you. No matter what harsh and hateful words have been said to you, no matter the wrong actions against you, those opinions are not valid. The only valid opinion in which we can place true merit is that of God, and ultimately, your own.--Olivia Worthington of River Oaks Plantation”

“It's pretty amazing that the Lord of heaven and earth, creator of everything, the God of Jacob and Israel, the Messiah, Jesus, allows us to carry him around in our hearts! He is good and full of grace, even when we aren't. He loves us even when we mess it up. He deserves our very best!”
Lisa Prysock, To Find a Duchess

“The only thing he was sorry for was slamming the door and perhaps raising his voice to the woman who'd been like a mother to him since the passing of his parents. Perhaps she hadn't really deserved his reaction, but he was, justifiably, weary of their meddling and hearing about his father's will. Apparently no suitable maiden was going to appear on his doorstep. He seemed to be looking for a needle in a haystack.”
Lisa Prysock, To Find a Duchess

“To order a wife by mail seemed strange to him indeed; so strange he could only open the letters in the confidential cloak of night, undisturbed by even the servants..." Lord Hartford's thoughts at the prospect of reading letters in response to his advertisement for a mail order bride in "To Find a Duchess”
