On 1 July, 2015, the new Canon van de Vlaams-Nederlandse literatuur (Canon of the Flemish-Dutch literature), also known as De canon van de Nederlandse Literatuur vanuit Vlaams perspectief (Canon of Dutch literature from a Flemish perspective) was created consisting of 51 titles, in which more attention is devoted to the Flemish literary heritage. This list was compiled at the request of the Koninklijke Academie voor Nederlandse Taal- en Letterkunde (Royal Academy of Dutch language and literature), in Flanders and the Vlaams Fonds voor de Letteren (Flemish Foundation for Literature)
