As expected, the mysterious jester flopping about in comfy orange robes, being cheerfully unhelpful, and occasionally confused with the furniture, is my favorite.

I do wonder about the protagonist being...so calm about the whole kidnapping thing, though...

Not gonna lie, the silent character speaking in a halting, raspy “I don’t use my voice much” voice makes me go slightly feral.

"nothing could be absolutely certain when speaking to people in hairbrushes."

Thank you, I'll make note of that. Could prove useful. ;)

Gina Marinello-Sweeney Most excellent. Glad you're enjoying Cornelius' ways! Also, that is quite a delightful description of our resident shapeshifting court jester. :) If I may say so as the author, I may or may not have been more excited for readers to meet him than any other character I've ever created in my entire life. At the very least, he's one of such. Basically, "AHHH I WANT YOU TO MEET MY FRIEND CORNELIUS" sums up my overall mentality lol.

Hehe Linetta is absolutely her own distinctive medley of various elements. Of course, Cornelius is the most outwardly eccentric, but she's a mixture of:

THIS IS A WONDROUS WORLD OF SPARKLY MIST. I MUST ABIDE IN THE SPARKLY MIST. EVEN IF IT IS NOT MIST BECAUSE IT IS LIKE MIST. A MIST-LIKE WORLD.

and

OOOHH, LOOK. I MUST STUDY THIS MOBILE CHANDELIER. >>Incoming Transmission from Linetta's Curiously Studious or Studiously Curious Brain

and

I WAS RAISED TO BE CALM AND COLLECTED, AS A PRINCESS AND A LENAE. I MUST MAINTAIN MY CHILL AT ALL TIMES.

and yet somehow

I WEAR MY HEART ON MY SLEEVE AND FEEL ALL THE THINGS. EMOTION INCOMING, ONE, TWO, THREE . . .

but also

I LOVE TARTS WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING. HAND ME ALL THE TARTS. I MUST EAT ALL THE TARTS. EVEN THOUGH *Spoiler You Already Reached* I was almost poisoned by one, I STILL LOVE THEM BECAUSE THAT IS THE WAY WITH TARTS.

So, basically, while she wasn't referring to herself here at all lol, I would contend that this line in the book should also apply to her ;), albeit in a more subtle way:

"Linetta now resided in a castle of chandeliers. And, as she told herself upon reaching her bedchamber, everyone who lived there was quite mad."

(Ok, I am clearly having way too much fun responding. Thank you for your live commentary! I have enjoyed reading through various thoughts that appeared in your brain, sayeth this unhinged author speaking to one of her new readers in an unhinged way about an unhinged book.)
