A search on the UNESCO site indicates that there are 261 novels included in the list, but some of those titles are repeats. Please don't add books that aren't novels on the UNESCO list. Thanks.

Have been working on this today (finally) after a flurry of votes and likes for the list. In case anyone cares, these are the works which are repeated (some of them multiple times) in the list on the UNESCO site, often because there are several different translations mentioned:
- Chemmeen
- Krishnanka's Will
- Kokoro - Natsume, Soseki (as if they didn't already have enough by this author)
- Ince Memed - Kemal, Yasar
- Snow Country - Kawabata
- Pather Panchali. Song of the Road - Banerji, Bibhutibhushan
- Lao Ts'an Yeou Ki] - Lieou Ngo
- The Gift of a Cow [Godaan] - Premchand, Dhanpat Raî
- Baltagul - Sadoveanu, Mihail
- The Ice Palace [Is-slottet] - Vesaas, Tarjei
- I Am A Cat, Soseki
- Pillow Book
- Tale of Genji
- Golden Pavilion - mishima
- Vita sexualis [Vita sekusuarisu] - Ogai, Mori
- War with the Newts [Válka s mloky] - Capek, Karel
- Khusraw u shirin - Nizami
I think they are all added to the list now, and to GR where needed - just hoping I clicked vote after every search. Please look through all pages - at the moment there are some well-known authors' books hiding on pages 2 and 3.
List voters and likers, if you haven't had enough of browsing hard to find books from all over the world, you might want to take a look at this one too: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8...

Thanks for sorting out the titles from the ones on the UNESCO list, Antonomasia. I saw the stricture above & was flummoxed! Your help is much appreciated.
With there being over a thousand 'representative works', a list for all would be difficult to manage, so I decided to do just novels (which would probably interest more active Goodreads members than the other topics). But it was a bit much to expect people to look through all the books in in the link before voting; they should all be on here now.
Unfortunately the UNESCO list miscatalogues Viagens na Minha Terra as 'theatre'. It is doubtless a novel. Any chance we could add it to this Listopia?
It certainly is an odd list... Many of the writers I recognized/have but hardly any of the books I have. In the end I just voted for the books already on the list 🙂

As you might expect, we are book people here at Goodreads World Headquarters—rather intense book people, actually. And when the holidays roll...
Anyone can add books to this list.

I have added 50 at time of posting this comment, and am having a rest for a bit. (went from the top of the linked UNESCO list except that 1 and 2 in my votes, listed later in the original, are books I own)
Chemmeen turned out to be listed twice on the UNESCO site.
