Ukrainian literature encompasses literature written in Ukrainian language.
Unfortunately, even in the beginning of the 21st century, Ukrainian literature is still hugely unknown around the world. This is mostly due to the fact that the majority of Ukraine's territory has been a colony of the Russian Empire/USSR for more than 300 years, where Ukrainian language and publications in it were either openly or covertly forbidden.
