USA Release Wishlist (439 books)

Ever find a book that you go, "I want to read that!" but find that this book only exists in another country... in another language... and you can't get hold of it? Well, add that book to this list! Maybe a publisher will see it and go, "Hey, let's publish that!"

Any genre, any type, any country-of-origin. From comic books to novels, romance to adventure, from Mexico to Japan, all books are accepted!

Note: This list is for books that were originally published OUTSIDE the USA and that does not currently have a US Release. This allows books that were never localized and books that are no longer localized (i.e. the publisher went out of business, like Tokyopop)

NOTE 2: To keep down the clutter, please make sure that your book isn't already suggested with another edition. Thanks!

NOTE 3: If your book is part of a series, please just add the first volume so we can keep down the clutter. Unless, of course, there's a really good reason (the first two are released in English and are currently licensed, but the publisher has announced they aren't translating anything else, for example).

Please note, the following are NOT good reasons to vote for later volumes of a series:

"I read all the previous volumes (illegally) online"

"The series has been licensed, but I want them to publish this faster"

Hi, I made a mistake and accidently put the manga adapation of Psychic Detective Yakumo instead of the light novel series. I tried to fix it but don't know how.

It should be this edition:

Akai Hitomi Wa Shitteiru by Manabu Kaminaga

not the manga series:

Psychic Detective Yakumo Vol. 1 (Suzuka Oda) by Manabu Kaminaga

The Sword Art Online light novels were recently licensed by Yen Press.
Also for anyone interested, Vertical Inc will be looking at license requests soon. They have various stipulations, like length and who the original publisher is, but it's still worth checking out if you have anything that you wish was licensed.

I had heard about SAO, but sadly, I'm not a librarian on Goodreads, so I can't remove it from the list...

A Certain Magical Index has now been licensed by Yen Press! They also announced a new imprint for their novel releases, so hopefully this means they'll license a few more series from this list. I'm particularly hoping for Baccano and Durarara.

Yay! I'll have to tell my friend who's big into the anime version.

Soon as someone adds the English edition to Goodreads (I feel it's a bit more official that way, and people really know why I'm removing it from the list), I'll get someone to remove it from the list. ;)

I'm hoping for Baccano and Durarara, too. The anime are so popular state side, I'm surprised they haven't translated the LNs yet...

Doesn't seem like Baccano or Durarara are on the list.
But it DOES look like Pandora Hearts Odds and Ends IS on the list, so once an English edition is posted for it, I'll ask a librarian to take it off this list.

I FLIPPED when I heard this! The Durarara light novels where one of my top dream licenses! And if they do well, I suppose there's a greater chance for the Baccano light novels as well!

Tokyo Ghoul was licensed by Viz, and RustBlaster was licensed by Yen Press (but since I was the only one who had voted for it, I just removed my vote).

Just want to remind you all to only vote for the first volume unless there is a super good reason!

"I read all the previous volumes (illegally) online" is not a reason to vote for volume 12 of something that the first volume is not licensed.

"The series has been licensed, but I want them to publish this faster" is also not a reason to vote for volume 12 of a series.

So please, for the sake of this list staying neat, only vote for the first volume in the series.

As for Oregairu, it doesn't look like anyone's added the English edition of the book yet to Goodreads. I take them off the list when the English version is on GR so I can point those who voted for it to the US Goodreads page. :)

That one I've been holding off on because like Oregairu, Yen Press doesn't actually list it on their website (which is why the release date on the Baccano page is just 2016). I guess a more accurate explanation is I'm waiting for the publishers to actually list them on the site (and thus a GR page is made with correct information). A lot can go wrong in the meantime, you know? ^^;;;

Vertical Comics also has a licensing survey going here on their tumblr. You can suggest up to three manga titles and one light novel title for English licensing. However, there are restrictions for what you can submit so read them carefully.
